Two Approaches to Data Recovery

In modern system environments, it is possible to restart using applications by going back to the point of last application-consistent point. For the time at least, you forget about the most recent transactions that occurred after the application became inconsistent and began to cause errors.

The goal in the above approach is to restart operations as quickly as possible. The lost transactions data will be recovered in due time by system administrators and you wait for these until then.

For example, if you are using Exchange server, you would start sending and receiving mails by getting the server back up quickly, and wait for the recovery of the lost mails by the administrator to deal with those.
