Undelete Erased Files

Data Recovery Software might be enough to Undelete Erased Files

The easiest data recovery task in most cases is recovery of deleted files, and in the case of raid data recovery, undelete can pale into insignificance compared to the more complex problems of a RAID system damage.

You can use data recovery software immediately after an accidental deletion and expect to recover all the deleted data. In fact, software that comes with the operating system, such as the CHKDSK program of Windows, can often do an adequate job.

Forensic software tools can even recover data deleted deliberately and mangled seriously. These tools are often used in crime investigation.

Use Data Recovery Software only for Simple Damage

System tools like CHKDSK and third party un-eraser software are thus best used for simple data damages particularly in a RAID environment. Such software can however be used when appropriate to recover deleted files under a variety of file systems, such as NTFS and FAT, and under different operating systems such as Windows versions and Mac OS. They can also recover data from different storage media, and recover even compressed files.

However, if the damage is more serious it is best to let experts handle it. Even in the case of erased files, if it has been done with malicious intent by a person with computer expertise, it is better to depend on forensic data recovery experts to attempt a recovery. Trying to handle these jobs without the specialized expertise needed can result in the data becoming even more damaged and unrecoverable.
